Alternative Curriculum is part of the wider 14–19 curriculum and vocational qualifications (VQ) reform programme being implemented by the government. Alternative Curriculum helps to secure the engagement of people over the age of 14 who find it more difficult or need more time than others to reach Level 2.
It aims to improve the skills of learners working below Level 2, aged 14 and over, through developing high-quality credit-based qualifications at Entry Level and Level 1 in the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF)
Through personalised learning programmes based on progression pathways, the Alternative Curriculum reform will increase learners' participation, achievement and progression.
By working with organisations and individuals we personalise learning programmes that engage and motivate learners. We deliver qualification outcomes that improve work and life opportunities. The delivery of these learning programmes then provide individuals with progression routes.
We can help to secure the engagement of those people who have missed out on learning or need to overcome difficult challenges; and help them develop skills for employment, further study or independent living.
